Foods We'll Lose Book (Not Updated)

Here's the book I made a couple weeks ago. I'm still working on cutting out all of the icons of the foods we'll lose and keep the 5 foods we'll still have.

Posters - Possible Silkscreens

Here is a poster I started working on over break. I think this would be a good thing to screen print and (maybe) sell during the show. I haven't decided yet and I would like some feedback.

Pre-Spring Break

I wanted to upload some of the pieces I had done prior to spring break. I didn't post them before, and I want them to be on the blog for future reference.


The following abstractions evolved from previous versions. By cropping some of my previous abstractions, I tried to focus on finding more interesting areas of a previously larger image.

These following images are the most recent versions of my abstractions. I focused on simplifying, and applying basic principles of 2D design. The three principles I focused on were line, form, and space.

 

I am exploring these simplified abstractions further, by experimenting with adding other principles of 2D design. Some principles I plan on exploring are texture and color.

Fact Posters

One thing I really want to do more of with my show is add more design elements. It has been interesting experimenting with different mediums, but I really want to begin rein it in as the show approaches. So over break I brainstormed ideas, and these are the beginning of them. They are in chronological order to show my thought progression

I've also been reconsidering the name of my individual senior show, and would love some input. Up until this point I have been calling it "Aesthetics is key" because I am using the aesthetics of these animals to convince them that there is nothing to fear. The new name I am considering is "Limited Exposure" which is talking about my use of exposure therapy to educate the viewer and also the lack of real contact the most people have with these animals. Thoughts?

Book Template

This is a basic layout of how i am formatting the book that all the content will be put into. I'm still trying to figure out if it will be possible to set up a date as my show but i haven't had too much luck with it.

3D scale update

After fighting very hard with the 3D scale idea, I just don't think this combination of mediums will work for me. The plastic of the bubble wrap is refusing to adhere to the styrofoam; even using special glue. So I decided to quit that particular idea before i'm in too deep. It was better in theory

On to (very literally) bigger and better things. I have begun the long shed-like scale wrap that was discussed in class. Its total length will be around 7ft (I believe). I have completed about a foot and a half at the moment.  I also plan to do the paintings using an acrylic brayer and bubble wrap.
